She is a qualified Audiologist and a fully trained, accredited ear wax removal specialist. Nicola studied BSc Audiology at the University of Southampton and has worked in both the NHS and private practices for the past 12 years before setting up Wessex Ear Care. She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and is a member of the British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists (BSHAA).

A full ear assessment will be completed to ensure the most suitable ear cleaning method is selected for you. There are three methods of ear wax removal available, the ‘gold standard’ microsuction, water irrigation and manual removal.

Before and after pictures of your ear canal can be viewed on a laptop. There may on occasions be a thin layer of ear wax left in your ear canal, this is perfectly healthy for your ears.

PPE is worn in line with the latest UK Government COVID-19 guidance and requirements. Please be reassured with restrictions easing Wessex Ear Care will continue to wear PPE as patient safety is incredibly important.

Wessex Ear Care has Public indemnity cover and are fully insured and DBS checked.

No GP referral required as Wessex Ear Care is a private ear wax removal service.

Ear wax is a natural oily substance that is secreted into the outer third portion of our ear canal (the ear canal runs from the outside of our ear up to the ear drum). This layer of wax helps to protect our ears against foreign objects, dust and some bacteria. Sometimes this oily substance can build up to cause a blockage of wax which needs help to be cleared.
